Artist Bio | Alessia Sersanti

Alessia Sersanti is an Italian-born painter living and working in Kirkland, Washington. Raised in Rome in an environment shaped by art and design, she was introduced to painting by her mother, a working artist in the 1970s. That early immersion led her to study Art History in Rome and Renaissance painting techniques in Florence, where the discipline of the Old Masters met her growing fascination with abstraction.

Before committing fully to painting, Sersanti founded a luxury handbag line manufactured in Italy and launched her own brand in 2017. The experience refined her sensitivity to craftsmanship, material, and form — but painting remained her most direct language. What began as a private practice gradually became her professional path.

Working primarily in oils and acrylics, she creates layered compositions that move between abstraction and figuration. Her paintings explore atmosphere, memory, and the subtle relationship between inner and outer landscapes. Botanical works and abstract fields coexist within her practice, each informed by her Italian heritage and the shifting light and terrain of the Pacific Northwest.

Travel has played an essential role in her visual vocabulary, with time spent across Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, and the American West shaping her sense of color, space, and cultural nuance.

In 2024, Sersanti formally dedicated herself to her studio practice. Her work has since been exhibited in the Pacific Northwest, collected in Europe and North America, and is preparing for its North American gallery debut.
